Godfather of Hiplife Reginald Yaw Asante Osei (Reggie Rockstone) says he is the inventor of the moonwalk dance but says Michael Jackson popularize it.
People in other countries, know the American pop star Michael Jackson as the inventor of the moonwalk dance because in 1983, Jackson's 'Billie Jean' song made the moonwalk dance so popular many dancers all over world learnt it.
According to Reggie, the actual name for the moonwalk dance was called backslide.
But Reggie Rockstone in an interview with Joy Prime's Doreen Avio, claimed that he is friends with Michael Jackson's choreographer (Jeffery Daniel)
"Daniel is the man’s name. I have a personal friendship with Jeffrey Daniel." He said.
"Before Michael Jackson popularized the backslide, individuals like Adjetey Sowah were performing it." He added.
"It was known as the backslide. There were no white folks there."
"It is they who refer to it as the moonwalk. We referred to it as a backslide." He concluded.
