Hiplife became dead when its gatekeepers refused to accept the genre was evolving – M.anifest

 


Hip-hop artist Kwame Ametepee Tsikata, a.k.a M.anifest, insists that the hip-life genre died long ago since people refused to accept that the genre was evolving.

According to the rapper, the gatekeepers of the genre also refused to makes some changes to the sounds in accordance with times and this has made the youth loose interest in the genre because it no more sounds interesting. 

The rapper shared this on BBC’s new documentary “Hiplife Rewind” .

“Hiplife is dead because the younger people, who are the source of the music, do not identify with Hiplife.” 

“The originators of hip-life were a little too precious about what it should be, so as new versions.” 

“These industry players have failed to realize that you have to be advancing or perish, and that is what any music form has to understand.”

“Those in charge of controlling hip-life refused to admit that the genre was evolving and the situation must change.”
