Have a look at our youth you’ll get a sense of where Ghana is heading to – Kafui Dey

Media personality Kafui Dey says Ghanaian youth have channeled their focus on somethings which is not life’s only focus.

Speaking in an interview with Rainbow Radio’s Daniel Dadson, Mr. Dey threw more light on his statement.

According to Mr. Dey, Ghanaian youth especially musicians have refused to channel their focus on social issues, instead they preach more about intimacy and money in their music videos.

Mr. Dey shared worries about why Ghanaian musicians are not motivated to write and release songs about social issues.

Even though other nations have restrictive immigration laws and Ghana has the progressive ones, the media can contribute to the shaping and thinking of a nation with the kind of content they show.

He insisted that if one really wants to how the younger generation thinks, one should just check how they behave towards national and social issues.

“Look at our youth you’ll get a sense of where Ghana is heading to. Ghana is moving in the direction of how they think, if you observe the youth.”

“I don’t hear musicians sing about the devastation of our environment like the way the Rastafarians do. Reggae musicians frequently sing about conscious topics.”

“There are other things to talk about except your waist or let’s make love. The reggae community mostly talk about justice and equal rights for all races. I’d like to hear our artists release songs that has more awareness. It shouldn’t always revolve around intimacy and money.”
