Reggae/Dancehall artist Ras Kuuku has pleaded with the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) to consider giving out more slots to reggae/dancehall music like other music genres have.
In 2020, Ras Kuuku was announced the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year at the VGMAs after been in a tough group with other top Dancehall artists.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Graphic Showbiz, Ras Kuuku noted that Reggae/Dancehall is more of a conscious music which concentrates more on positive things which are not given much attention.
Making complaints about the limited slots given to the Reggae/Dancehall artists he said;
“We have a limited amount of slots in our award schemes, and I am pleading with the award scheme organizers to give us more.”
“Reggae/Dancehall music should also be promoted by the media.”
Siting some examples he mentioned the likes of;
“Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale and Samini, have received massive support Ghana, but can we as a nation project more artistes if we give Reggae/Dancehall more attention.”
“I will be happy to see other award organizers create an event for reggae/dancehall artist.”
