It was stressful growing up with a famous mother - Efya

 


Ghanaian songstress, Efya has disclosed she had a stressful life growing up with her mother who was famous.


Efya’s mother, Nana Adwoa Awindor who is was a renowned filmmaker and the host of ‘Greetings from Abroad’ in the 90s and early 2000s.


People believe children of famous people enjoy so much reception and favors from other celebrities, brands, etc, but Efya wanted the opposite as a child while growing up.


In an interview with Doreen Avio, she also disclosed how she was bullied in secondary school after her seniors found out who her mother was.

“It was very stressful. There was a lot of pressure. I got beaten up because of my mom when I got to secondary school.” 


The four-time VGMA ‘Best Female Vocalist of the Year’ also explained why she added Nokturnal to her name. 


“I don’t really sleep at night and it’s been like that for a very long time. I figured out I might as well make it cool because I’m a Nokturnal being and I come alive at night. Most of the time I like to work late at night because it is quiet.”
