Messages from kind persons got me on my feet after my son’s death – Davido

Nigerian superstar, Davido has disclosed the consoling messages he received from close people and fans helped him get back on his feet after the death of his son, Ifeanyi in 2022.

In an interview with CNN’s Larry Madowo, Davido explained why he stayed away from social media.

According to the singer, he was hit hard by his son’s death and couldn’t have any interaction on any social media platform.

“I was like ‘you’re fine, you see everybody is rooting for you.’ That was one thing that really made me strong enough to stand up again, get back in the studio and do what I love.”

“Before my son passed, we had finished the album. But it was a tragic situation and I really had to calm myself down and take a step back. Nobody would want that and everybody knows that I and Chioma didn’t deserve that.”

Davido also disclosed in his interview with CNN he had to revise his album which was yet to be released after the death of his son.

After months, Davido returned a new album titled ‘Timeless’.

‘Timeless’ features Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Angélique Kidjo, Dexta Daps, and Skepta.

The album is made up of Amapiano, Afrobeats and Dancehall tracks that suits music lovers tastes.

The 17 track album which was released on March 31, 2023, becomes Davido’s fourth studio project.

“I know in years to come, if you interview me, we are still going to be talking about this album. Every time I play the album for someone, there are two, three songs they like personally like that they can take home. And I feel like that is how an album should be.”
