Ghanaian Dancehall artist, Epixode, believes as a musician being independent is the best only if you are financially stable.
According to the Epixode, this allows the artist to control his/her own affairs when it comes to music.
And financially grounded artist need no record label under their roof because they; “Can employ the services of experts to do your distribution, promotion and make yourself known within a short period of time.”
“Paying to be on billboards and getting your songs on the streaming platforms is all due to money.” He added.
“If you are an artiste and even naive about promotion or distribution, you can employ the best people in the industry to do it for you.” He advised.
Talking about the disadvantages of signing up to a record label Epixode said; “As an artist, you don’t get audacity to keep the right to your music when you’re signed up to a record label.”
