Renowned Ghanaian female gospel artist, Ohemaa Mercy in an interview with Ghanaweekend has disclosed the amount of money she received from Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) as royalties.
Being in the music industry for sixteen years, Ohemaa Mercy claims she has only received GH¢300 as royalties from GHAMRO.
According to 'Ote Memu' hitmaker, she and many other musicians are frustrated about the lack of transparency and accountability when it comes to royalty collection and distribution.
And due to this, she has faced financial difficulties due to improper structures laid out by GHAMRO concerning royalties.
“I received GH¢300 in 2007 and since then, I have never received any money from the royalties-sharing agency.” She told Ghanaweekend.
