Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, who is known as Burna Boy, complains about how the majority of Nigerians assume he is not on the same level as American artists.
In an interview with Los Angeles Times, the singer gives an insight into how it feels like when his fellow Nigerians belittle him when it comes to his craft.
“To this day, there’s many Nigerians who can tell you an American rapper who just started their career, and they’ll say they’re bigger than Burna Boy." He said.
"They don’t understand it. They’ll say, ‘There’s no way someone who talks like me, can even be on the same level as an American artist.” He added.
Burna Boy who is yet to release his forthcoming album “I Told Them” says his critics who have looked down upon him from the beginning of his career till date will keep mute when his new album is out.
